NBC Activities

Besides the individual club events, the council sponsors an annual picnic. Here the participating clubs engage in friendly competition through horse shoe throwing, croquet, bocce ball, blindfold dingy racing and cribbage.
There are also children's games and a contest which club creates the most beautiful basket.
This is a 2-day fun filled event, that in recent times attracted 200 people in 40 boats.

In the spring, NBC sponsors a Blake Island Work Party  with the boy scouts. Council members provide transportation and food for the boy scouts. The work party helps the park repair the damage done during winter storms, and make the park safe and presentable for the summer visitors.

To further establish interclub relationships NBC sponsors an annual dinner dance in January. At this occasion,  the new officers are introduced, and the winners of the picnic events are recognized with trophies. This is another opportunity for members to get to know each other, and become friends when cruising the Puget Sound waters.

In more recent years, NBC has been active in legislation, supporting a state-wide boater education law. It has worked closely with the department of Natural Resources to develop unused waterfront property for marine recreation use and was instrumental in the restoration of Dockton County Park on Maury Island.
